The Washington Nationals are committed to making a real difference in our community. We are fortunate to have a generous group of wives and girlfriends who want to help our fans and are excited to expand their participation each season.
The First Ladies support community relations with the Thanksgiving in June Food Drive, Christmas in July Toy Drive, and the annual Blood Drive. They lend a hand by thanking fans at the gates and by promoting the team's community events on television and radio.
The First Ladies launched their signature program -- the Back to School Drive -- in 2007. This year's event was held August 21-24 during the series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The First Ladies were at the Centerfield Gate where they collected school supplies and new books from fans.
This year's drive was a huge success as fans donated donated more than 5,000 items to benefit children at Amidon-Bowen Elementary, Garfield Elementary and Howard Road Academy.
