Player Appearances
Nationals players make community appearances in the Greater Washington, DC area throughout the season. To request a player appearance for your event, please download the PDF request form by clicking the grey button below. Please read the guidelines below for further instructions and information.
(Adobe Acrobat Reader required)
Guidelines
- All groups requesting a player appearance must complete a Player Appearance Application and submit it via mail 4-6 weeks in advance of the event - we cannot accept requests over the phone or via e-mail.
- The application should be for a specific event and must be completed in full. Flexibility is appreciated and needed, however, requests submitted without any potential dates cannot be considered.
Please mail to:
Community Relations/Player Appearance Request

Nationals Park

Washington, DC 20003
Procedures
- When a request is received, every attempt is made to satisfy the request. The team travel schedule, practice schedule, and each player's individual/family schedule determine availability. Unfortunately, many requests are not filled due to scheduling conflicts and the enormous demand for celebrity appearances.
- Because we receive dozens of requests each week, the fulfillment process can take a few weeks. Community Relations will contact you directly by phone or e-mail as to whether we can or cannot arrange an appearance.
- Once an appearance has been scheduled, if a player is unable to appear due to illness, injury, roster transaction, an act of God, or circumstances beyond his control, best efforts will be made to find a suitable replacement.
Helpful Hints
It is highly recommended that a player appearance not be the focal point of your event because many requests are unable to be arranged. Plan your event and approach a player appearance as an added bonus to the activity.
- If your event is scheduled during Spring Training (mid-February - April 1):
- Nationals players are in Florida for Spring Training and not available for appearances.
- If your event is scheduled on the day of a Nationals night game (April 1 - Oct. 1):
- Best times for an appearance are between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
- Players report to the ballpark around 2:00 p.m. and leave no earlier than 11:00 p.m.
- If your event is scheduled on the day of a Nationals day game (April 1 - Oct. 1):
- No appearances are scheduled on a day when the players have a day game.
- If your event is scheduled on an off-day (April 1 - Oct. 1):
- Off-days are not good for appearances as the players schedule family/personal time on these days and therefore try not to schedule any appearances on these days. Players only have two to three days a month when they do not have to work or travel (off-days).
- No appearances are scheduled on off days.
- If your event is scheduled during the off-season (October 1 or Nov. 1 - Feb. 1):
- An extremely limited number of players live in the Washington, DC area during the off-season. Most players live out of state in their off-season homes.
- As a result, we are unable to book current players for non-team commissioned community events during this time.
Appearance and Fee Information
- Most community appearances for schools, camps, libraries, community festivals, and non-profit groups not enlisting the assistance/sponsorship of a commercial partner (radio station, retail outlet, business etc.) do not require an appearance fee. A copy of the organization's 501 (c) 3 certificate of exemption must accompany the player appearance request form.
- Appearance fees or honorarium may be required if:
- The appearance is over 20 miles away from Nationals Park.
- A company or business is requesting an appearance.
- Fees are based on per hour visitation and is expected upon the player's arrival.
- Any appearance requests from outside the District of Columbia and its immediate surrounding areas are much more difficult to arrange.
- A small number of in-stadium player appearances for corporate events in a Nationals Park suite are done throughout the season. If you are interested in booking a player for a suite event, please contact Community Relations for fee information. Fees may vary and appearances are subject to player availability. We strongly recommend that you not plan your event based on an in-suite player appearance as these cannot be guaranteed.
Former Players
The Washington Nationals do not schedule appearances for former Washington Senators. If you are interested in booking a former player, please log on to the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association website at http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/features/alumni/index.jsp for more information.
