A former catcher...played 7 minor-league seasons in HOU's chain reaching the Triple-A Iowa in '75 and Memphis in '76...hit .250 with 38 homers in 531 games...was selected by HOU in the 7th round of 1970 First-Year Player Draft.
John Lowell McLaren...graduated from Westbury (TX) High School in 1970...attended Blinn Junior College, St. Thomas University and Houston Baptist University...received the Lewis B.
