TARASCO RESUME: Returns for second season on the Nationals staff, first with Matt Williams at the helm...before joining the staff in Washington, served the previous seven seasons in various player development roles within the Nationals system...spent the 2011 and '12 campaigns as Nationals outfield/baserunning coordinator...is one of four former Expos on Williams' staff in 2014 (bench coach Randy Knorr, hitting coach Rick Schu, third base coach Bob Henley)...in April '95, was part of four-player deal that sent Marquis Grissom to the Braves...Grissom was the Nationals' first base coach in 2009.

PLAYING CAREER: Played eight MLB seasons as an outfielder with ATL (1993-94), MON ('95), BAL ('96-97), CIN ('98), NYY ('99) and NYM (2000)...played under former Nationals skipper Davey Johnson during his tenure with the Orioles...finest season came with the Expos in 1995 (.249, 14 home runs, 40 RBI, 24 stolen bases)...was directly involved in one of the most controversial plays in postseason history...while playing for the Orioles on Oct. 9, 1996, in Game 1 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium, entered game as defensive replacement in the eighth inning and with one out and the bags empty, was camped underneath Derek Jeter's long fly ball to right field, but 12-year-old Jeffrey Maier reached over the fence to catch the ball and change history...the play was ruled by right-field umpire Richie Garcia as a game-tying solo home run and tied the score, 4-4...the Yankees went on to win the game, 5-4, in 11 innings and the series, four games to one...in all, played in two postseasons: ATL ('93 NLCS) and BAL ('96 ALCS)...spent the 2000 season with the Hanshin Tigers of the Japanese Central League. 

PERSONAL: Anthony (Tony) Giacinto Tarasco...graduated from Santa Monica (CA) High in 1988...nominated for MLB's Roberto Clemente Award in 1995 and won community service awards with the Braves in '94 and the O's in '97...is a cousin of Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins...had cameo appearance in movie 'Talent for the Game' with Eddie Amos.
