METS FOOD DRIVE

METS FOOD DRIVE

SATURDAY, JULY 20

Feeding the Big Apple" presented by The Hain Celestial Group, is a season-long hunger relief initiative in partnership with the New York Mets, City Harvest, City Meals on Wheels, Island Harvest, Rock & Wrap it Up!.

A sustained, high need for food has become the new normal for many New Yorkers with 3 million living in areas where fresh, affordable food is difficult to access. As more people are affected by the challenging economy, the need for emergency food has increased dramatically. Soup kitchens and food pantries have seen an average increase in demand of 25% since 2008, and visits by children are up 35%.

The next Food Drive at Citi Field this season is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, when fans can drop off food donations at the City Harvest truck on Mets Plaza outside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda starting at 10:30 am. The next two drives will take place on August 3 and September 14.
