Chris Young had a two-run single and Orlando Hudson added his first home run of the season to lead the D-backs over the Nats. But the big story of the night was D-backs starter Edgar Gonzalez, who pitched five strong innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Jose Valverde picked up his second save.
Dmitri Young, trying to follow up his performance on Wednesday vs. Florida, had a homer and a double against the D-backs. The Nats would come up short, though, as Jason Bergmann gave up three runs on 50 pitches in the first inning. He left after 3 2/3 innings while issuing six walks.
