The Marlins took advantage of sloppy Nationals defense in a four-run first inning, capped by Miguel Olivo's two-run single. Scott Olsen struggled with his control (five walks in 5 1/3 innings), but picked up his first win. Josh Willingham had three hits and two RBIs to lead the offensive attack.
A misplayed flip by Josh Wilson and groundball-error by Dmitri Young proved costly in the Marlins' four-run first inning as the Nats dropped their second straight to open the season. Shawn Hill took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in five innings.
