Livan Hernandez turned in a quality start, but the Nationals were held to a sacrifice fly by Royce Clayton and an RBI single by Jose Vidro, falling to the Mets on Opening Day at Shea. Alfonso Soriano was called out at home on a very close play in the eighth inning.
