Nationals Livan the good life

Livan Hernandez won his ninth consecutive decision and his 10th game of the year, boosted by a pair of solo homers by Jose Guillen. Hernandez helped his own cause by inducing four double plays. Brad Wilkerson and Cristian Guzman each drove in a pair of runs in the victory.

In just his second non-quality start of the season, Mark Redman allowed the Nationals six runs in seven innings of work, striking out six. The Pirates mounted a rally in the seventh inning, keyed by a two-run single from Jack Wilson, but the Washington bullpen shut down the Bucs to seal the deal.
