When Jose Fernandez went down, Henderson Alvarez filled some big shoes. The 24-year-old Marlins righty has taken on a leadership role, and for the first time in his career, he's an All-Star and a 10-game winner. Alvarez picked up victory No. 10 at Colorado last week, and he looks to build on that number in Wednesday night's series finale with the Angels, who will try to reward Hector Santiago.

8/26/2014 | Herrera back to help beleaguered Halos bullpen
The Angels added Yoslan Herrera to their bullpen on Tuesday, selecting his contract from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Wade LeBlanc's roster spot. 8/26/2014 | Marlins hope Eovaldi can harness power vs. Halos
Nathan Eovaldi remains one of the hardest throwers in the game, repeatedly bringing his fastball in at 95 mph and over. What's plagued the right-hander lately has been inconsistent offspeed pitches. And he's been prone to the big inning. Eovaldi has struggled since the All-Star break, posting a 1-4 record with a 5.31 ERA in seven starts. The Angels, meanwhile will go with right-hander Matt Shoemaker, who no-hit the Red Sox for 6 2/3 innings last Thursday before Will Middlebrooks doubled.
8/26/2014 | LeBlanc can't stop Fish; Halos fall into tie for first
Wade LeBlanc was throwing strikes, coaxing ground balls, and most importantly, keeping the Marlins off the scoreboard. But then the strikes turned into balls, the ground balls into base hits, the bloopers into singles -- and they all turned into runs. Miami scored three runs in the third and four in the fourth to grab a commanding lead and cruise to a 7-1 victory over the Angels on Monday night at Angel Stadium.

8/24/2014 | Baylor working with Trout to cut down on strikeouts
Mike Trout is a premium AL MVP Award candidate for a third straight season. But the strikeouts are high, even higher than they were over the last two seasons, and it makes you wonder how productive the Angels' superstar center fielder would be if he could find a way to cut them down.
8/24/2014 | For some Halos, quake experience was a first
Angels bench coach Dino Ebel grew up in Barstow, Calif., and experienced countless earthquakes. But few like the one that woke him up at the team hotel in San Francisco at 3:20 a.m. PT on Sunday morning.
