Those numbers are good enough to rank fifth among National League first basemen in the All-Star balloting. He has 331,772 votes, while Reds first baseman Joey Votto is the leading vote-getter with 1,314,516 votes.
"Adam has done so well this year. He has really kept us afloat. He deserves [to be an All-Star]," Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond said. "His defense is unbelievable. As infielders, we have that extra comfort knowing that you can throw in [his direction] and he is either going to catch it or keep it in front of him. He is going to make a smart decision. All we have to do is get the ball to him.
"Offensively, he has been a horse. With [Ryan Zimmerman] being down, [Michael] Morse being out and Jayson [Werth] being out, he has kept us afloat. He has been unbelievable."
