Nats, Nix agree on Minor League deal

The Nationals agreed to terms with outfielder Laynce Nix on a Minor League contract that includes an invitation to Major League Spring Training, the club announced Thursday.

Nix, 30, hit .291 with four home runs, 18 RBIs and an .805 OPS in 97 games with the Reds last season while seeing time in all three outfield positions. He also made his first postseason appearance, going 0-for-3 with a run scored in the National League Division Series against the Phillies.

The left-handed hitter posted 37 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs and 64 RBIs in 213 games with Cincinnati over the last two seasons.

An eight-year big league veteran, Nix is a career .243 hitter, with 48 home runs and 182 RBIs in 483 games with the Rangers, Brewers and Reds.
