Detwiler to take hill Saturday for Nats
After strong debut start, left-hander will take on Orioles

After the game, Detwiler was scheduled to be sent down to Triple-A Syracuse for more seasoning, but Nationals manager Manny Acta and acting general manager Mike Rizzo had other plans. There is now a possibility that Detwiler could stay with the club as long as left-hander Scott Olsen is on the disabled list. Olsen is not scheduled to come off the DL until June 1.
"He is starting on Saturday for us," Acta said of Detwiler. "He pitched very well for us last night."
Detwiler has come a long way. During Spring Training, he had a tough time getting batters out, giving up five runs and walking seven batters in 5 1/3 innings in Grapefruit League action. Now, Detwiler has his confidence back and is throwing almost nothing but strikes. The organization liked the fact that he didn't walk a batter on Monday.
"I'm relaxing and not trying to pitch away from contact," Detwiler said. "I'm pitching toward contact earlier in the count."
