Forearm problems behind Hill

VIERA, Fla. -- The Nationals have decided right-hander Shawn Hill will pitch on short rest and go two innings against the Tigers in Lakeland, Fla., on Friday. The latest assignment proves that Hill no longer has problems with his right forearm.

Hill last pitched on Monday, tossing a scoreless inning against the Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium.

In other news, first baseman Dmitri Young had an MRI on his back on Monday, and it didn't reveal any structural damage. There is no timetable as to when he will return to action.

Catcher Jesus Flores (sore right elbow) hit off a tee for the first time on Tuesday, and he didn't feel any pain. He is expected to go through the same activity on Wednesday.
