MRI on Chico's elbow reveals problem

Young sits for third straight game with flu-like symptoms

WASHINGTON -- Nationals left-hander Matt Chico had an MRI this week and it was revealed that he has loose bodies in his left elbow. He is slated to go to Birmingham, Ala., and see Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion Monday.

There is no timetable as to when Chico will return to action. He was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on May 23 after going 0-6 with a 6.19 ERA; however, he would pitch in only one game for the Clippers, giving up four runs in four innings.

First baseman Dmitri Young missed his third straight game Sunday because of flu-like symptoms. He was in the lineup Saturday, but was a late scratch because of his illness. Manager Manny Acta wasn't sure when Young would be back in the lineup.
