Nationals finalize 25-man roster
The Washington Nationals today re-assigned right-handed pitchers Jordan Zimmermann and Jesus Colome and infielder Alex Cintron to minor league camp and optioned right-handed pitchers Jason Bergmann and Garrett Mock to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Additionally, the club selected the contracts of right-handed pitcher Julian Tavarez, left-handed pitcher Wil Ledezma and catcher Josh Bard. Nationals Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Baseball Operations Mike Rizzo made the announcements.
With today's moves, the Nationals now have their 25-man roster set for Opening Day. Included on the roster are 11 pitchers (five left-handed, six right-handed), three catchers, six infielders and five outfielders. Right-handed pitcher Terrell Young (right shoulder inflammation, retroactive March 27) and infielders Anderson Hernandez (left hamstring strain, retroactive March 27) and Dmitri Young (hip/back strain, retroactive April 1) will all begin the season on the 15-day Disabled List. Left-handed pitcher Matt Chico (left elbow surgery) will begin the season on the 60-day Disabled List.
