Angels designate pitcher Hector Carrasco for assignment
Club recalls pitcher Chris Resop from Triple-A Salt Lake

ANAHEIM -- The Angels Tuesday designated right-handed pitcher Hector Carrasco for assignment. To replace Carrasco on the 25-man roster, the Angels recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Resop from Triple-A Salt Lake. These announcements were made by club Vice President/General Manager Bill Stoneman.
Carrasco, 37, was 2-1 with a 6.57 ERA (38.1 IP - 28 ER) in 29 games (one start) with the Angels this season. He signed with the Angels as a free agent, Dec. 2, 2005.
Originally signed by the New York Mets' organization as a non-drafted free agent, March 20, 1988, Carrasco owns a lifetime 44-50 record with 19 saves and a 4.00 ERA (832.1 IP - 370 ER) in 648 games (10 starts). He has appeared in the Major Leagues with the Reds, Royals, Twins, Red Sox, Orioles, Nationals and Angels.
Resop, 24, registered a 1-3 record and 4.57 ERA (45.1 IP - 23 ER) in 27 games at Salt Lake. He was acquired by the Angels from Florida, Nov. 20, 2006, in exchange for pitcher Kevin Gregg.
A native of Naples, FL, Resop was originally selected by the Marlins in the fourth round of the 2001 free agent draft. He owns a career 3-2 record and 5.63 ERA (38.1 IP - 24 ER) in 37 games. He appeared with Florida during the 2005-2006 seasons.
