The Washington Nationals today optioned right-handed pitchers Jermaine Van Buren and Brett Campbell to Columbus of the Triple-A International League. The club also reassigned outfielder Darnell McDonald and left-handed pitcher Chris Michalak to minor-league camp. Nationals Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcements.

With these moves, the Nationals now have 52 players in big league camp. In addition, first baseman Nick Johnson, left-handed pitcher Mike O'Connor and right-handed pitcher Brandon Claussen (minor league) are expected to begin the season on the Disabled List.
