Earlier today, Washington Nationals right fielder Jose Guillen had his left wrist examined by hand-specialist Dr. Edward St. Mary in Viera, Fla. Per an MRI, which was part of the examination, Guillen has tenosynovitis of the extensor tendons in the left wrist. One of Guillen's tendons in the left wrist is damaged.
Dr. St. Mary has recommended a surgical procedure to repair the damaged tendon. The Nationals will seek a second opinion to confirm Dr. St. Mary's diagnosis.
If Guillen has surgery, he would miss approximately three months.
