The Washington Nationals today named their minor league managers, coaches and trainers for the 2006 season. Nationals Farm Director Andy Dunn made the announcements.

Four of the Nationals' six minor league managers last year return in 2006, some in new environments. Tim Foli (Triple-A New Orleans) is the lone skipper to return to his same post. Randy Knorr (Potomac in 2006, Savannah in '05), Bobby Williams (Savannah in 2006, Vermont in '05) and Bobby Henley (Gulf Coast League Nationals in 2006, Savannah in '05) all return as managers, but with different affiliates.

Six former big leaguers-Steve McCatty (posted 63 career wins with Oakland from 1977-85, Detroit pitching coach in 2002), John Stearns (four-time National League All-Star catcher was .260 career hitter in 11 big league seasons with Philadelphia and New York-NL), Terry Clark (pitched for seven teams in six major league seasons from 1988-97), Jerry Browne (infielder was a .271 career hitter in 10 big league seasons with Texas, Oakland, Cleveland and Florida), Edgar Caceres (infielder played in 55 games for Kansas City in 1995, managed for five seasons in the Reds system, including with Potomac in 2004) and Tony Tarasco (outfielder hit 34 home runs during eight big league seasons, including career-high 14 with Montreal in 1995)-have joined the Nationals' stable of minor league coaches and managers.

Of the Nationals' 18 minor league managers and coaches, 11 spent portions of their playing careers in the big leagues.

Washington's six U.S.-based minor-league affiliates remain unchanged in 2006.
