ARLINGTON -- Astros manager Bo Porter successfully challenged a call at first base in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Rangers at Globe Life Park.

Rangers designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo led off the first with a grounder to second baseman Jose Altuve, who misplayed the ball before recovering to throw to first baseman Jesus Guzman. Choo was called safe by Joe West after Guzman stretched to keep his foot on the bag while catching the throw.

Porter ran to first base and asked West to take another look via instant replay. After only 44 seconds, the call was overturned, and Choo was ruled out. The replay showed Guzman barely kept the tip of his foot on the base as he caught the throw from Altuve.

Because the call was overturned, Porter retained his ability to challenge another play during the game. No manager may challenge more than two plays in a game. Once the manager has exhausted his ability to challenge plays during the game and after the beginning of the seventh inning, the crew chief may choose to invoke instant replay on any reviewable call.
