WASHINGTON -- The Nationals announced on Monday that they have agreed to terms with catcher Jesus Flores on a one-year contract, thus avoiding arbitration. Flores will make $815,000, according to Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors.
After missing almost two years because of a shoulder injury, Flores came back and played in 30 games this past season, going 18-for-86 {.209} with one home run and two RBIs.
In 2012, Flores is expected to replace Ivan Rodriguez and become the backup catcher behind Wilson Ramos. Rodriguez is a free agent and is not expected to return to the Nationals.
