Nationals at the plate: Chris Duncan, Ivan Rodriguez and Justin Maxwell drove in two runs apiece, while Ryan Zimmerman went 2-for-2 with three runs scored.
Cardinals on the mound: Right-hander Kyle McClellan pitched four innings, giving up three runs -- two earned. Cardinals relievers gave up 10 runs the rest of the way.
Nationals on the mound: Right-hander Stephen Strasburg made his third Spring Training start at Space Coast Stadium and it was a good one. He pitched four innings, gave up two runs on four hits and struck out eight batters.
Worth noting: At one point during the game, Strasburg struck out four straight hitters.
Grapefruit League records: Nationals 3-11; Marlins 5-9
Up next: The Nationals return to Space Coast Stadium to play the Marlins on Saturday afternoon. Garrett Mock will get the start. He hasn't walked a batter in nine innings.
The Cardinals return to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla., to play the Mets. Right-hander Adam Wainwright will get the start. He has pitched two games and given up six runs in six innings.
