Nationals sign Ramirez to Minors deal

Former Royals left-hander will report to Triple-A Syracuse

NEW YORK -- The Nationals continue to add depth to their bullpen, signing left-hander Horacio Ramirez to a Minor League contract Monday. He is expected to report to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Ramirez, 29, started the season with the Royals, but he was designated for assignment on June 6. In 19 games, Ramirez was 0-2 with a 5.96 ERA.

Ramirez is best remembered for his years with the Braves. His best season with Atlanta was in 2003, when he went 12-4 with a 4.00 ERA.
