Nationals come up with little offense in visit to Fort Lauderdale

Nationals at the plate: Jose Castillo doubled twice and scored on another double in the second inning. Roger Bernadina, who contributed two highlight-reel catches, doubled in Washington's first run. Justin Maxwell came up with a leadoff triple in the seventh inning and wound up scoring on a grounder to shortstop.
Orioles at the plate: The top of Baltimore's batting order ran wild, with Brian Roberts and Adam Jones combining to reach base six times and steal five bases. Cleanup hitter Aubrey Huff had two hits and reached on a walk, adding another stolen base to the total. Matt Wieters doubled to left field in his first at-bat.Nationals on the mound: Former Orioles pitcher Daniel Cabrera started and flashed his old wild ways for Washington, working two innings and facing 12 batters. Former first-round Draft pick Ross Detwiler worked one inning and allowed one earned run. Preston Larrison gave up three earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. Orioles on the mound: David Pauley pitched effectively, working three innings and allowing just one earned run. The right-hander made his other start against Washington and has worked six innings total against the Nationals. George Sherrill, Jamie Walker and Dennis Sarfate all pitched one scoreless inning. Grapefruit League records: Nationals 3-5; Orioles 6-2 Up next: The Orioles will travel to Jupiter, Fla., on Saturday for a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Marlins. Youngster Brad Bergesen gets another chance to impress in the starting rotation. Florida will counter with Sean West.
The Nationals will play a 1:10 p.m. game against the Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla., pitting Scott Olsen against Dillon Gee.
