VIERA, Fla. -- Catcher Jesus Flores had an MRI on his right elbow on Monday, and it was revealed that he has a mild strain. Flores will not be involved in baseball activities for the next four to five days.

Flores was scheduled to start against the Orioles on Sunday, but he was a last-minute scratch.

"We are going to give him some medication and nip it early in camp," manager Manny Acta said.

Austin Kearns hasn't played an exhibition game since last Wednesday against the Astros because of a blister on his left palm. But Acta said Kearns' hand is getting better, and the veteran outfielder was able to grip a bat on Tuesday and is close to being able to resume baseball activities.

In other news, there is still no sign of right-hander Jorge Sosa, who is having visa problems.
