Nats, Whitney agree to deal
First baseman signs Minor League contract with Washington

Whitney, who was Washington's top pick in the 2007 Rule 5 Draft, went 3-for-26 with a home run and six RBIs last spring before being sent back to Class A Kinston in late March.
The 24-year-old spent the entire 2008 season with Triple-A Akron, and hit .268 with 10 home runs and 56 RBIs. His best season in professional baseball was in 2007, when he hit a combined .299 with 32 home runs and 113 RBIs for Class A Lake County and Kinston.
