MRI on Flores' calf comes back negative
Catcher, injured in collision at plate, hopes to play Tuesday
WASHINGTON -- Nationals catcher Jesus Flores had an MRI on his right calf on Sunday morning and the results were negative. The team is hoping that Flores resumes playing on Tuesday against the Phillies.
Flores hurt his calf in a collision with Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba at home plate on Saturday. Flores had tried to score from first base on a double by Ronnie Belliard, but was called out. Although he was was slow to get up, Flores played the entire game.
The 23-year-old is hitting .271 with eight home runs and 52 RBIs in 78 games this year.
