Zimmerman playing with hurt shoulder
Third baseman has seen action in spite of minor injury
WASHINGTON -- Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman has been playing almost a week with a sore left shoulder. He hurt the shoulder on Sunday against the Orioles.
In the eighth inning, Zimmerman doubled against reliever Chad Bradford and slid head first into second. That's when he felt some pain in the shoulder. Zimmerman was examined and was told he could still play.
"It's sore, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it," Zimmerman said. "If there was anything wrong with it, I wouldn't play. I'm still playing, so that's good."
For the season, Zimmerman is hitting .257 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs.
