Nationals at the plate: Ryan Zimmerman started the sixth inning with a single and later scored on a Jesus Flores single. Bret Boone's third-inning, two-out RBI double gave the Nationals an early lead.

Braves at the plate: Joe Borchard's two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the ninth tied the game at 2. Yunel Escobar had a single in three at-bats to keep his Grapefruit League batting average at .500 (14-for-28). Mark Kotsay, Chipper Jones and Kelly Johnson also contributed singles.

Nationals on the mound: Right-handed reliever Joel Hanrahan, who recorded three scoreless innings, enjoyed an impressive stretch, during which he struck out eight of nine batters and seven straight. While recording three strikeouts over three scoreless innings, Nationals starter John Patterson allowed just two Braves to reach second base.

Braves on the mound: The lone run surrendered by starter Tom Glavine came after Escobar's potential inning-ending double-play relay went through the webbing of Mark Teixeira's glove. Peter Moylan's right elbow appeared healthy as he registered two strikeouts in his one scoreless inning of relief. Luis Ayala was charged with two runs over 1 1/3 innings of work.

Grapefruit League records: Nationals 5-7-1; Braves 8-4-1.

Nationals up next: The Nationals make their final visit to Vero Beach, Fla., to meet the Dodgers, with lefty Mike O'Connor due to make his first start. Chad Cordero, who has allowed only one hit in three shutout innings, is penciled in to work the last inning. Game time is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET.
