PHOENIX -- Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre returned to the lineup on Thursday, but had to leave the game in the sixth inning with a sore left thumb.Beltre, who missed two days of Spring Training while in Mexico following the death of his wife's grandmother, had a ball hit by Joe Dillon in the second inning glance off his glove. The Gold Glove defender quickly picked the ball up and threw the runner out at first base. "He nicked his thumb on one of those ground balls and it started getting a little sore so we took him out of the game," manager John McLaren said. "He had it iced and we'll have an update (on Friday). But we don't think it's anything serious."
