ARI@CHC: Saunders fans Soriano to strand the runner

Lingering arm soreness will cause Rockies pitcher Drew Pomeranz to miss both Tuesday's start against the D-backs and a shot at some revenge.

In his first start of the year on April 15, the left-hander was roughed up by Arizona, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. It was the start of a rough 2012 for Pomeranz, who was sent down to Triple-A Colorado Springs after holding a 4.70 ERA through five games. Pomeranz has gone 1-3 since being recalled July 1, including a three-inning, seven-run outing July 20 against the Padres.

"I've got to figure out whatever is going on," Pomeranz said. "It's nothing serious, just nothing that feels great."

Edwar Cabrera was called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs to make the start against the D-backs. In his big league debut on June 27, the 24-year-old lefty gave up seven runs (five earned) in 2 1/3 innings against the Nationals.

Taking the hill for the D-backs will be left-hander Joe Saunders (4-6, 3.58 ERA), who took a no-hitter into the fifth inning against the Reds on Thursday before giving up three runs in the sixth.

Saunders is 5-2 in his career against the Rockies.

D-backs: Drew disregarding trade rumors
It has been speculated that shortstop Stephen Drew could be traded by the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline. Drew is a free agent at the end of the season, though there is a $10 million mutual option for 2013.

"I don't even think about the trade talk, to be honest," Drew said. "I just go about my business getting prepared every day to play. I'm with this team until I'm with another team. I'm just trying to prepare myself every day to be the best player I can for this team."

Drew, who did not play Monday, is hitting .217 this season with six RBIs.

Rockies: Rosario expects to return Tuesday
Rookie catcher Wilin Rosario, who left Friday's game against the Padres after awkwardly twisting his left ankle, has made enough progress to start Tuesday.

"I think there's a real good chance we'll have him available to catch tomorrow," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "He is available to us. I just didn't want to push him into a bad spot."

Worth noting
• Rockies first baseman Todd Helton is eligible to come off the disabled list Tuesday, but he won't be activated until Friday when the club returns to Denver. Helton won't play in any more rehab games.

• After their 6-3 win Monday night, the D-backs have won three straight against the Rockies.
