Nationals announce 2011 minor league managers, coaches & coordinators12/10/2010 12:24 PM ET
The Washington Nationals today named their minor league managers, coaches and coordinators for the 2011 season. Nationals Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Player Development Bob Boone, Director of Player Development Doug Harris and Director of Minor League Operations Mark Scialabba made the joint announcements.
Among the changes from last season, Randy Knorr was promoted from his managerial post at Double-A to skipper the Syracuse Chiefs of the Triple-A International League. This assignment marks a homecoming for Knorr, who caught parts of four seasons (1991-92, 1995-96) in Syracuse. Tony Beasley, the Nationals third-base coach at the big league level in 2006, rejoins the organization to manage the Harrisburg Senators of the Double-A Eastern League.
The Auburn Doubledays of the short-season rookie-level New York-Penn League join the Nationals system beginning in 2011. They will be managed by Gary Cathcart with assistance from pitching coach Franklin Bravo and hitting coach Luis Ordaz.
